7 killed in a tragic car accident near Hanzel Harpoon adjacent to district Ghizer

7 killed as a car plunged into ravine near Hanzel Harpoon adjacent to district Ghizer.

The car was carrying a family (a mother and 3 children resident of Hunza) reportedly plunged into the Gilgit River. Rescue 1122 and local administration had started rescue mission at 7pm last night and stopped around 11:30 pm due to light problem. According to Mehtab Ur Rehman, Rescue 1122, local administration and volunteers present at the scene are having lack of equipment and other resources to search and recover the dead bodies. Families of the affected persons have demanded that the government should utilize resources and make sure recovery of the dead bodies.

Sultan Alam, a relative of the drowned family applauded the efforts of volunteers and local administration in search and recovery of the dead bodies. He said, ” out of the 6 passengers, dead body of one has been recovered thus far.”

Mr Ali Mehr works in Aga Khan Education Services said, “We lost one of our competent staff member Ms Jamila Academic coordinator yesterday. May Allah rest her soul in eternal peace and give courage to family members to bear this irreparable loss. Ms Jamila was associated with AKES, P for last 12 years. We all AKESP family members convey our deepest condolence to her family Engineer Deedar sab and her parents.”

We, the grieved family of Late Amir Ali his spouse and four kids who lost their lives in tragic road accident in Hanzel , Gilgit are grateful to all the volunteers from Gilgit especially Youth of Konodas, Baseen, Hanzel , Punyal , Oshikhandas, Danyor and others who have been struggling with bloody water waves of River Gilgit putting your own lives at risk since the accident in searching the dead bodies of our beloved family members. Your sincere efforts are really a source of our strength and lessened our grief.
